Springs Picnic
Overnight, spring casts her spell;
a tablecloth of daisies spread
on emerald blades catch in the breeze.
Daffodil teacups spill over with mango petals
saucers spread open proudly, holding
tulips with fondant fancy centres,
heads heavy with cream,
snowdrops dangle, delicately piped ice gems.
The peonies cheer joyfully
giant pom-poms cheering the afternoon sun.
Dandelions play peek-a-boo with
the morning frost, a sugared glaze
that snaps like brittle icing beneath my feet.
