Moon Rise
I am the moon in the newborn
light--- ethereal and entirely
out of place.
The celestial song of nostalgia, golden
glow of twilight. The night’s sleepy smile.
I wasn’t your sun or her sea of clouds.
I was a shadow stain, a galactic ghost
returning to old skies, darkness
masquerading in the light of day a butterfly
pinned behind the glass of morning.
A lost love still lingering
in your orbit.
